Vermont (ESPN Events Invitational)

Cut it to 4 now. Whoa.

Wow Happy is online from three, that’s incredible

Happy ties it up!

Stanton makes his 2nd trey. Let’s feed him. It’s his time to carry us.

Malik with a 6-0 run to take the lead!

I’m speechless.

Even if they end up losing, this was very encouraging to see. Without Davis, it would be so easy to collapse and give up. But they haven’t done that.

We need to double Yalden or front him. Just letting him catch it on the low block and back down Huggins is dumb.

Happy now 0-9 on FTs. But it leads to a backdoor layup!

The fouls ….

Happy is on fire! Except from the FT line

Trailing again… missed FTs killed us.

Oh man. What a tough loss.

Fantastic comeback effort but fell just short due to missed FTs.

Another moral victory. Amazing comeback but just too raw to eke out the win.

4-12 from the FT line and no resistance to a traditional low-post center.

When will Mitch recruit a decent big man? Baffling recruiting failure.

Tigers played some great basketball at this tournament and some woeful ball too. Happy, Hicke, and Abdulahi had flashes of brilliance tonight. Should feel good about this very young team, playing without its leader.

Definitely a lot of positives, but 0-3 is hard to watch. It would have been nice to just get ONE win against this quality MTE field. They should have won last night. And lost a close one. They could have had an incredible comeback win today. And lost a close one.

When Davis gets back, maybe they’ll be capable of pulling a Brown 2024 turnaround. But they need to figure how to slow down a low-post threat. Double team. Sneak in from their blind spot. Front them to force a tougher pass over the top. That and Happy needs to make some FTs (0-10 this season!)

Any word on when (whether) Davis will be back?

Nope. Nothing said on the broadcast or anywhere else.

I’m just gonna assume he’s out till league play and be pleasantly surprised if he returns sooner.

At one point they mentioned he is not likely to play St. Jos. this weekend.

How does a D1 player of ANY shooting ability miss ten free throws in a row?

And Hicke short-armed his free throw.

Oh well, otherwise a great effort.

Guys are getting PT which they would not have if Davis were playing. I hope it pays off.

Sebastian Whitfield played best of all the opportunistic players, IMHO.

I get the big man talk but there is nothing to do about it right now. We have to work with what we got and can talk big man when time comes.
