Vermont (ESPN Events Invitational)

Traditional post playing big men are the new “unicorns” of college basketball and therefore the $$$ on the table via NIL is going to be an growing challenge for Ivy league in general. This is statistics problem given the undercurrent of NIL along with academic requirement to handle Princeton.

I watched this on delay. Thought it was another Akron and then….what was that comeback?? And then…what was that FT shooting? Wild game, went from discouraging to exhilarating to disappointing. Quite an experience. Glad to see Happy step up from the field, Abdulahi make a ton of plays, and the youthful Tigers show some fight.

If they couldn’t stop the Vermont post guy then Townsend is going to eat them alive down the road. They were getting killed from three when they doubled him in the first half, but they’ve got to be able to at least dig down and bother him. The team looks like they barely practiced when they try to play zones on the odd possession or two, so that isn’t a likely answer unless something serious changes.

But a lot of players are picking up valuable experience in DD’s absence, and that should pay off a lot in league play. Opposing teams are going to have a pretty long scouting report to cover.
