Who are next Ivy transfers?

big p is back from ivy hoops forum hibernation for ivy transfer portal season. per my tweet, a source has informed me that celiscar is looking at 1.2 million from west virginia and is considering another offer from texas.

it’s my personal belief that TJ Power would stay with Penn, but that’s just a hunch and no source to corroborate.

James-with all due respect there is a journalistic difference between “writing about it” and actually breaking the news when it happens. No need to criticize the latter even though you clearly speculated about it previously.

Strange reply; James wasn’t making any claims but merely stating a fact. Disappointing to now have four of five starters leaving, four to graduation (including Aletan, after three years) and now Isaac.

Perhaps this will now make Yale supporters bigger fans of an ILT.

James reply to the posted news was pretty dismissive and seems to claim credit for breaking the news previously via “insider speculation”. I agree James was previously speculating on it quite a bit (just like a bunch of people speculate that TJ Power might leave for $$). It’s official now and that’s what was reported. No need for shade.

I really didn’t feel the “shade” in James’ response. I think we all need to reflect that comments in writing don’t give you the facial expression of the author and we shouldn’t try and read a negative nuance into comments which are matter of fact on their face. That being said, I feel bad for Yale’s program, although I have the feeling Jones will do what he has to do to stay at the top.

I thought Celiscar would stay one more year, but a seven-figure payday at a power conference team is the dream. WVU or Texas would be good landing spots. Not too elite to risk falling out of the rotation, but it’s still Big 12 and SEC, respectively.

Richard says Power is staying and he’s right on with his news scoops. But if TJ gets a similar offer as Celiscar… we’ll see.

Is that 7 figures for 1 or 2 years?

I’m assuming Big P means 1 year. I haven’t heard about players signing multi-year deal, especially when so many of them play for a different school every year now.

Come to think of it, maybe Celiscar has a plan to play one year at WVU/Texas, prove he can thrive at that level, then transfer again to a Kansas/UK/Florida level program.

I’ve seen Princeton and Penn fans complaining about the Ivy tournament but I don’t recall many or maybe any Yale fans doing so.

The Settlement clearly envisions multi-year contracts, as discussed in this NCAA Q&A

I have no issue with Celiscar leaving, I would do the same given the opportunity.

My fandom and dedication will suffer with this trend though. I see no sign of anything changing either.

Some of us have been aboard this train ever since Dingle, who was all set to become Penn’s all-time leading scorer by a very good margin, left 3 years ago. It seems as though fans of other Ivy schools have now somewhat belatedly realized over the past few years that this can happen to them as well.

Followed by Perkins in 2024 and Brown in 2025. Only transfers in stopped it from being a disaster. But I see no alternative for the entire league.

A first round nba draft pick left us 2 years ago and two princeton studs left last year, we realized it. Princeton, yale, and harvard need to embrace the transfer portal like a lot of us have mentioned and I don’t think they will.

Wrong terminology. Embrace NIL. Not, ok we are in the portal working and you can come here and pay us $90,000 per year. H-Y-P are no pay status now. Needs to change.

They’re embracing nil, not NIL.

I’m a Yale fan, and I hate to see Isaac leave; however, I hope nothing but the best for his future. I think Coach Jones does a great job recruiting and developing his players. Yale will be okay. Next man up! Yale has 3 former players in the NBA seeing playing time right now. Of the 75 or so P4 schools, many of them can’t claim 3 former players in the league currently. There’s nothing wrong with the Ivy model, but I’m sure adjustments will be made. I also think the current NIL and “pay for play” models are not sustainable, but that’s another discussion.

As a Penn fan I like Penn not having to face Celiscar anymore. But as an Ivy basketball fan I hate this. It is long past time for the Ivies to embrace NIL rather than become a minor leagues for the power conferences.
