In the Wild West of current NCAA, you can’t rule anything out, but I lean towards Power staying. He’s seen what it’s like in the big leagues and it didn’t work out for him (and second stop was a disaster for him). I imagine he will get some Penn alumni NIL money and prefer to stay at a place he thrived. Let’s see though.
I hope so, im afraid a mid major decides to throw him a big chunk of their budget, at a level he can excel.
I agree he isnt likely to return to power 5. Hopefully the pro sucess recently of graduated top ivy players convinces him to stay.
There are new ivy guidelines on nil that inhibit possibilities of alumni getting together short term, his deals for this year should be granfathered?
Samson Aletan is officially graduating early and transferring. I expect Baylor.
I would be very surprised if Power leaves. It would be ridiculously stupid of him to leave immediately after finally connecting with a coach who is capable of bringing out the best in him. Also, he is already being paid at a level competitive with those top mid-majors.
Yeah this is why right now it would be foolish to think anything is a guarantee but I’m hopeful he stays. First things first, I’m hoping he can play tonight!
We’ll see. If Cal/Stanford whoever come in and offer him upwards of a million, I’d be hesitant to call him stupid.
Money is big in NIL and expanding. I think Xavian was a special case and that deal isn’t out there for most transfers
True. More than half of Xaivian’s NIL bag was brand deals, where his Asian background made him a unique commodity. He’s also a flashy, exciting player to watch and his Princeton highlights went semi-viral on social media.
But I don’t think Ivy stars need Lee’s 6M+ NIL bag to leave. Even 1-2M to play for a high major team will probably be enough to lure them away. In this day and age, in this economy, I don’t blame kids for taking a quick 1M in their bank accounts.
Is it really a quick 1M? What about taxes?
Ivy degrees get you a mill in no time
Not no time, top wharton/econ kids get $125 to $175 first couple of years, cs could be $150 to $200. Not that many players across league fall into this category. Had convo with Ethan pre season with a very successful wall st alum. He told us he turned down $750 a year for two years. I asked the wall st guy how long it took him out of school to make that kind of money, even adjusting for inflation, quite a while. Now he is one more big hit away from not being able to play in the future.
Good points. Interesting!!
I really hope Ethan’s injury doesn’t put a damper on his ability to find a home (and get well compensated) with his last year. I’ll be really rooting for him wherever he goes.
Have to think it will
Per dr ai
Having one concussion followed by a second later in the same season (creating a history of two concussions) roughly doubles to triples the risk of future concussions compared to athletes with no prior history. This is based on multiple prospective studies and meta-analyses across contact and collision sports (including data applicable to basketball, where concussions occur at lower rates than football but follow similar risk patterns). Basketball-specific multipliers for recurrent concussions are not separately quantified in large studies, but the general athlete data (including college-level and contact-sport cohorts that encompass basketball players) consistently shows this elevation.
Celiscar is going to transfer. It is only a question of when he enters.
The ivies as d1 are doomed.
Unless we all play the transfer and pay game, yes.
I think they also need to change the grad rule. The last thing you want the Ivy to be is simply a place for a transfer to set market value so that he can then jump ship again for even greener pastures.
Greener pastures suggests midwest ag schools….Dartmouth and Princeton at least have lots of foliage.
Celiscar leaving is official
You heard it here first!
i have been writing about the possibility if not probability all year but thanks AJ Brodeur![]()
the offers are good according to an agent i spoke too this am who tends to know the market.
